Don't forget, some manufacturers list drafts for a lightly loaded boat and some list draft for full fuel/water. The waterline measurements with the boat out are the thing to go by, and even then it's going to change as you add and use fuel, water, etc. My draft changes by several inches depending on my fuel and water load.

You may want to get serious about a 50-50 plan of action. I'll defer to Billy on coming out of Tuckerton Creek, but I've been out of the inlets along the Jersey Coast 100's of times over the years and going out with any wind that has an "N" in the direction gets tricky at best....especially on an outgoing tide close to low. I don't know your experience with Inlets, and I'm sure Billy can get you out safely, and will make the right call at the time, but even if you decide to go outside, it just may be one sloppy ride. I'd suggest you take the ICW north to Manasquan Inlet....that would save you about 45 miles of rough ocean riding and leave the option to duck in at Shark River Inlet (Belmar) just 7 miles north if it's too rough.

I have a 41 Sea Ray Sundancer. I take the ICW from that area "many" times. Stay in the channels, which are well marked, and you won't have any low water issues. It would be longer time wise, but taking into consideration all the variables (wind, waves, new boat, etc) it's certainly a very good option.....Unless....you just want to dock by me for a day or two until things calm down....
 
At least they knocked a foot off the wave heights according to the Wunderground (noaa). Note small craft advisory Fri. should stir things up and it will take a while to settle?
Run with the tide. We pushed it in Jersey and you may be aware we stuck the stbd prop in the mud and needed a tow off the mud. Then we drove her slow to Cape May for a haul and prop job. Just a bit out of the channel was all it took. This area you are in is why we ran outside from Barnegat to AC. It was south of AC that we got stuck. When running across Barnegat following the charts we frequently had 3 feet under the xducer and we pull almost 4. There is very little tide well into Barnegat bay as I recall.
We never churned that we saw but we were concerned. Tice's shoal is a pleasant anchorage. Manasquan is a great inlet I wish I could say the same for Barnegat. Several spots in Barnegat gave us erratic depth sounder readings because it was so shallow. Everyone, everyone was dead slow in several places.
 
Weather is already blowing out of the NW now not bad about 10knots. It looks like Sunday might be the best early start but we will have to see what blows through here tonight through tomorrow. Mike I'm working on trying to get you the power cord hopefully I can get a friend to lend me one. Otherwise I found one for $360 and change that I will know tomorrow morning if I can have it by Saturday morning delivery. I also think we could make you a 30 to 50 amp one side only cord adapter. I would like Dominic's opinion on this first. They did do a quick wash down of the boat certainly not a detail but your boat was loaded backwards and when the shrink came off the trucks diesel and road dirt was blown into the cockpit/ above deck helm area.
I will call you early tomorrow on the cord. You need to be comfortable here. The ICW maybe the way to go but I would prefer to wait on that until Saturday morning when we can make the call. Its looking like one of those lousy weather fronts coming through. If it is North West the tide will be blown out North east and the back bays and ICW may be above normal. I can't tell yet even looking at my long range Garmin XM weather.

You can wire up an adaptor to power one half the 50A 125/250V Boat side, BUT....if you have any 220-250V appliances (fridge, AC, etc) you have to make sure that you do not energize them. Plus, you will only be able to power half of your 110-120V systems..Not half as in 50%, but half as in the side that is on the energized half.....and there may be some stuff of the other side that you need.....it's a give and take. IMHO, the most important thing to have energized at this point is the battery charger.....there's no food in the fridge and you really don't need AC/heat right now....most of your other neccessary systems should be 12V....and if you NEED anything AC....start the genie.

If your decision is to take the ICW up Saturday morning and out Manasquan, I can drive down to the marina and, with the captains permission, I'll board HOGAN and guide you through the ICW. You can drop me off at my house...I'm right along the ICW. By the time we get to my house....about 1 1/2 hours north of Tuckerton, you will be more than comfortable enough to go the rest of the way on your own. Or, you can overnight (or overweek if you prefer) at my dock till things clear up a bit. I have a 50A 125/250V supply on the side of my house. We'll need to extend a few cords to reach to the boat....but that won't be a problem. Dockage is free....the power cord....that'll cost ya'... :)

The big day is upon us, time to bring home the new HOGAN. I just wish you had better weather for the trip. If you need a power adapter for the trip let me know you can borrow mine Call me on my cell 845-216-8154. If you split the power input and only feed one side power, the way mine is set up one side only feeds the AC units and the other feeds everything else. You may want to bring a small electric heater/fan that you can plug in. Best of luck hope you enjoy the trip.

As you already know, in order to use a Smart Y, the twin 30A supplies at the dock MUST be on seperate phases. Billy can hopefully confirm with the management how the marina is wired at the docks before you plug in.
 
Keep in mind with the smart Y you need to feed both sides power or you get nothing out of it, that is that same one I have.

Mike as we discussed yesterday regarding the seperate phases with the Hubbell smart Y YQ230, your welcome to take my 2-30Amp cords as well that are in the bag in my garage/lazarette. This will allow you to extend your power to another pole for the seperate phase. See the link below.

Mike I can get you to the ICW safely under almost any conditions. You still want to run it on the rising tide. But you would have plenty of time to get to Dominic's place. I would lead but I don't think I will have enough time to run to Domoinics and back large portions of the trip are no wake zones and loaded with small boats sitting in the middle of a channel you don't want to go outside of. The biggest problem I'll have is getting back in my slip with the wrong NE winds right now the wind is blowing from the Northeast. This generally means higher back bay and ICW water. 24-36 hours out it looks like it will be blowing out of the East. This is according to my XM weather on my network. I'll show you when you get here. If you need a car while you are here I can lend you my 2007 Durango.

From Billy's Marina in Tuckerton, the entire inside trip would be ~50 sMiles (approximation of the ICW is represented by yellow line below)....

The first part of the trip has two short No Wake zones (blue lines below) and you will come off plane again to go under the route 72 bridge .....

From the route 72 bridge you won't have to come off plane again till you drop me off....please at least slow down so I can jump safely....that's about 33 sMiles into the trip...

After you drop me off, you'll have about another 18 sMiles till you are out the Manasquan. The Blue lines below are No Wake zones....also, from my house, you are ~3 hours till you are under the VZ bridge....

I'd budget 5 Hours from Tuckerton till you are under the VZ bridge.

BTW....how's your fuel? Some of the cheapest diesel fuel on the water in NJ is just at the begining of the first no wake zone in the first pic above Beach Haven Yacht Club....

Mike and family are here they are really nice people. He is all hooked up with power and getting to know his new boat. The high tide was very high and I believe the tide will be high again tomorrow looks like the wind will be mostly out of the North East and more Easterly. I'll get him to the ICW fine. I will probably cut some of the miles off if the tides stay up by taking Mike through the middle grounds then into the ICW further North. I just found out we lost another 40 plus sailboat that is still in the inlet 3 days ago. Last night I happened upon a conversation between 2 blow boaters they were talking about being a mile and a half off shore heading towards Little Egg from AC and both said this was their 1st time passing through. I hailed them and they changed coarse I think we would have had 2 more wrecks if I hadn't heard them talking and giving position reports to each other on channel 69.
