Can I use the hold and treat system with a manual head or do I have to change over to an electric head?

I do not know. However, I am sure Vic Willman will answer soon. If Vic does not know....nobody knows!!

With a Hold N Treat, everything goes into the holding tank first, then from there is is pumped into the treatment system for treatment and discharge via a macerator pump. So it makes no difference what kind of head you have, manual or electric, as long as the head has a pump and can pump the waste to the holding tank. Gravity type heads won't work; the head must have a pump.

I have a pump type head. I also have a pretty big holding tank, I think around 18 gallons.
But we only have one pump out available to us since all the hurricanes and I HATE to pump out.
I was looking at getting just the treatment system, but it looked like I needed an elect head
from what I read on the Raritan site.
I have no macerator pump, just the manual head, hoses, Y-valve and tank.

Raritan treatment systems do not require an electric head. They will all work equally well with a manual head. In the case of a Purasan, it takes a special model (PST1203) but it will work with a manual head.

The hold and treat system is still in my plans and I knew the answer, but Vic beat me to it. He also carries a lot more weight than I do. ;)

18 gallons is a big holding tank??? I've got a 20 gallon on my little boat and I find that's only good for a couple of days. I guess I'm full of s#$t! :-)

I've had a Hold-n-Treat for over 2 years now and will never own a boat without it. Hold-n-Treat is a great system. I've got an Electro Scan, and it's been fine considering we're in saltwater enough to make it work with the saltfeed tank added for brackish. The Purisan sounds great too, and draws less power (it wasn't available with Hold-n-Treat when I upgraded). We have a knock-off Jabsco manual head with the LOUD-AS-ANYTHING Jabsco electric conversion. I'll upgrade to a Raritan head eventually.

I just measured and I cannot get the hold and treat system into the boat unless I move the
gas tank first. I would have to take the engines and generator out to get the gas tank out
in order to get the hold and treat in.
I am going to have to figure out something different.
We rented a house boat in Ft. Myers this past summer and it had both heads going to the same
hold and treat system. It worked great for us too. That is why I am thinking about one.
I may go to a straight treatment system with the tank as an option.
Our boat isn't big, and we don't have any room left in the engine room to add something unless
something else comes out.

My holding tank is 45 gallons and I thought when we had a 36 gallon tank it was small. I am really looking forward to using the PurSan system with the Hold-N-Treat system when we are out the the NDZ zone. It will help immensely when we start cruising this late spring. I really hate pump outs or running 3 miles offshore to just dump the tank. I got the PST1203 PuraScan and the 21B12 something conversion Hold-n-Treat electronics conversion system with the 12VDC pump. I may not need the pump but if I don't it will be a good spare. This with the water maker system will really make cruising easier. I intend to add a washer/dryer perhaps even an all in one vented system. I am waiting for warmer weather and then the conversion/upgrade will start. I have a spare thru-hull with a valve for the PuraSan output. Vic thanks for all your help so far. I will talk to you at the show about my planned set up.
Bill
