We need a honda outboard engine mechanic around Sacramento. Our 1999 Honda 9.9hp engine was taken into a highly reputable repair shop several years ago. Never ran right after the $300 we spent. It won't idle, seems to run ok at a higher rpm. Gasoline is/was new.

I know this isn't in the thread for mechanics, but I wasn't sure it belonged there. You can move it if you want to do so Dave.

It would be ideal if the mechanic makes "house calls". Otherwise we will get a couple of buddies to drag it up the long ramp to my truck. Thanks....

We are at Riverview Marina. Up stream from Chevy's restaurant...CG Aux station..American River.

As I said, ideally, it would be nice to put the dinghy in the water, start it and let the mechanic adjust it.

Plan B would be to get some friends help pull the 100+ pound engine up to my truck and haul it somewhere.

Marinetech, I sent you a PM. Not sure about the gmail address.

i do not get PM's because i can not firgure out how to pay!!!

Liz, I sent him an email, hope it went through ok. My wife wants me to find a 10hp 2 stroke that isn't so heavy. But with all the changes around us... away from 2 strokes, I hate to spend the money just to be told I can't use it. I know the new ones are approved for use in most places (Tahoe too??), but the day is coming they won't be allowed.

If I were in the market for an OB, I'd go with one of the nice little Honda 4 strokes. They are very quiet and eco friendly. Of course they are more expensive, but I think they are worth the extra cost!

I knew a guy who had a 9.9HP Honda 4 stroke. It was easy to carry on a conversation with the engine running w/o shouting. It had a 1 gal fuel reservoir built into the engine and that seemed to last him for hours of running in smooth waters. He could easily carry it with one hand.

If you afford it, I think it would meet all of your needs now and into the future.

We already have a 1999 Honda 9.9hp 4 stroke OB. It does not idle well. I turned the idle up pretty high and it will run. That is why I am looking for someone who knows Honda OB.

I hate to take it back to Bucks, it came back from them like this. I have griped about their poor quality work on my engine before. Don't want to rehash it again.
