We had a problem with our DPS-A drive trim and the boat now sits at a dealership for an unknown period of time waiting for parts and repairs.. We had already overnighted 2 nights and the holding tank is pretty full.. I always pump the tank out myself after ever trip , flush it with clean water and then use odorloss.. Will it be o.k. for two weeks sitting in the hot sun?.. This is a glastron GS-259 pocket cruiser with a jabsco electric head and approx. 10 gallon holding tank..

shoudn't be a problem... it's a holding tank, it's supposed to hold waste!!

No problems what so ever. It will stink, so bring some Vap-O-Rub for your nose! Pump, flush with some water and pump it a few more times. If you get it from the dealer and have to take it home for a while, you can add some more Odorloss until you can pump it out.

Through an unfortunately circumstance we left a holding tank about half full for a whole winter. I replaced the hoses the next spring. The worst part was dumping the tank in the toilet of the utility room! It wasn't too bad, but it was like Mt. Rainier in the toilet! I did a holy crap now what! It was right up and over the bowl! It took two of us to dump it and we couldn't see it while we were doing it! It was pretty funny!

Since we will be picking up the boat at the dealership and then going boating directly, we will have to have the marina do the pumpout.. I've never had them do this.. I think it cost 8 dollars.. Do they rinse also? I'm guessing they don't but we keep a container of odorloss on the boat..so they pump out and I add the odorloss and flush a few times.. How much do you tip the fuel dock guys for a pumpout?

Some places will allow you to do it. If you've never done it before, pay the $8 and watch. It's easy, but you want to make sure you maintain suction and contact with the fitting. Once they've sucked it out, pour some water back in to rinse it and then suck out what's left. I have my wife pumping the head like crazy to clear the lines between the head and the tank too. Each time you rinse it will get a little cleaner. You don't have to get it perfect every time, but once in a while give it a pretty good rinse. When you are done pumping, add your Odorloss and you're ready to go. As far as tipping, whatever you are comfortable with. $5 or so? If the dealer doesn't rinse it, ask them to do it. You're paying them, you might as well make them do it right.

Put some RV tank enzyme in the tank. It will help with the problem. A lot of older hoses aren't sanitation hoses with a barrier in them and the wast reacts with the rubber in the hoses and generates a permanent stink from your hoses. I just replaced all of mine with sanitation grade hoses due to that problem.
