I have a 19 ft cuddy cabin I/O. I currently have only one 12V battery in it. So far it has done the job of starting and running the electrics very well as it is a dual purpose type battery. I want to add a 24V engine mounted trolling motor. I know I need at least one more battery. Do I need 2 more? I want to have ample redundency to make sure I can get back home safely. Should I get two batteries to power the trolling motor, that way there is an extra battery dedicated solely to starting the engine? I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts on the matter.
