How much bottom fouling did you get this year?

I pulled my bow rider today. It appeared to have a lot less fouling on both the hull and the outdrive than last year or maybe the last few years. I didn't spend long at all power washing it, just a quick blast. My prep this year was no different than any other year.

What did you find?

I've been out for a while already, but cleaning mine was no problem. I try to hit it with the power washer as soon as it comes out. I find that the sooner you get it, the easier it comes off.
Maybe you just got to it a little sooner this year.

I had to be pulled a few weeks ago and scraped the props and just about everything metal on the boat. The boat is back in the water. It was the worst year ever in my marina/ area according to the locals. It was definately due to me not using the boat as often as I used to meaning cruising not using it as our shore home. We have spent lots of time being a "Dock Mary" this year due to personal, financial and the price of fuel. In the end it would have been cheaper to run the boat more often than then hauling and scraping charges.

My bottom looked like crap this year, very little use, then getting hurt at the end of the season.

No, that wasn't any different. Drive straight home from ramp, get the power washer out and gassed, and clean it. It's always within an hour of the boat coming out. I know better than to wait.

Very odd then that mine was cleaner than usual and others didn't find that.

Mine was about the same as always. But I did use it quite a bit this year so maybe all of the running avoided whatever increase some have experienced.
I don't usually have anything built up on the bottom. I do get some stuff on the drives, gimble housings, and trim lines, but like I said before; if I get to it with the power washer as soon as it comes out of the water it usually comes off pretty easy.

Ours was actually cleaner than last year, except for the outdrive. The strange thing is that we only got out about six times all season, so the boat basically sat at the dock from the end of April till two weeks ago. There was some slime on the bottom, which washed off with the powerwash. The outdrive and stainless props had quite a bit of barnacles on them. The prop I could understand, since that was not painted at all. The outdrive was a little surprising since I painted it myself with a full can of Trilux, which is supposed to be the best stuff. I don't know what the marina used when they painted the bottom last spring, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the top end paint. So now the question is: Is the top end paint worth the extra cost? I wonder. Hy
