Has anyone removed the outside shore water connection on your 1980's vintage Carver? I have an '86 3297 Mariner. I want to install an new battery charger and remote panel.
My plan is to install the remote panel on the port side aft wall above the salon table seating. Problem is I need to run the cable back to the battery charger in the engine compartment. So, after looking at things, I notice that on the outside of the wall behind the ladder to the top deck there is a panel where the shore water connects to. My thinking is to remove that so I can feed the remote panel cable through into the side of the engine compartment. But, as I look at it, curious to know how to detach the shore water connection. Or, maybe I don't need to disconnect it and it will leave me room to get in there.
Any help would be appreciated. When I crawl into the engine compartment I can't see if there is a way to run the cable straight down. I can feel that it seems to be sealed off, but I am wondering of the side it open along the port wall somewhere that I could feed the cable down to.
