I tried to get down East Riviera, and the West Riviera at about 2:00 PM to check on my boat. I wasn't able to get closer than several blocks north of the bay on either side. It was hard to tell, but judging by what I could see of my shed down there it looked to be under about 3 feet of water two blocks north of the bay. I thought there was a chance that 3 1/2 hours after high tide I could have gotten further, but no such luck.
Low tide is at about 5:30 down ther, but I don't know how much closer I'd be able to get at that time and that's when the winds are supposed to go crazy so I'm not sure if I am going to make another attempt.
Glad I didn't have my boat hauled and blocked up. I'd be worried about it either floating or blowing off the blocks.
Lights have already flickered here a few times, so I'm guessing we're about to lose them.
Times like this I wish I still lived in Queens with the underground power system. Maybe the local government should try to find a way for the feds to fund a project to bury the power lines on Long Island. It's long overdue, and would create lots of jobs for a few years.
