Has anyone heard or seen the price of fuel at the docks. Diesel would be my concern. My tanks are pretty low and I'm wondering what we are looking at.

It's gotta be better up there! Last I heard we were lookin' at 4 bucks/gal. Da boat's stayin' South this year.

That sucks how far south are you going to keep it?

Dave we're thinking somewhere in Ft. Lauderdale or on the Okeechobee. It makes no sense to haul North far enough to cancel the Fl. and Bahamas endorsement. That will only save like 800 bucks and then we wind up paying fuel, dockage, and yes, the storage is more expensive also.
So Florida it will be. Not sure if it will be wet or dry yet.

I'm not sure what site I read about a upcoming drop in price. Maybe I dreamed it or maybe it is wishful thinking. Has anyone seen any numbers yet?

hey, with all my tax credits, cheap health insurance, and all that
real cheap lawn maintance, i'll take 2gallons please.

$2.89 for gas today at Osprey Marina, deduct the additional .10 cents for being a BoatUS member and it's almost worth the trip down here.

Dave, are you planning to go to SC to fill up???

maybe, sounds like a fun trip. I did post the question in the HRCC did I not? I guess it's to soon for this but we will all know the answer soon.

I don't recall thinking Belmar was far I think you referring to the Chesapeake and I still think that is far for a one week trip. NC took 5 long days 8 to 10 hours a day I wont do this again other then to transport a boat or very extended travel plans.
So I guess no one knows how much Diesel is on the Hudson.

The Chesapeake is way to far for a one week trip, that's why I'm doing two weeks. Still not sure if we are going there or back out east.

Two weeks no problem just a lot of fuel. I would rather make a lot of shorter distance stops unless there is something in particular that you want to see there. It's very nice but not high on my list of places to go. I sure where ever you go you will have a great time even if you are cramped in that cabin do to the Cherry wood finish. LOL

Dave my post was directed at Hogan not you. He likes to bust my chops about the time I talked about Belmar and their incredible fuel prices on the HRCC forum.

Come on man, catch up! ;)

Sorry my bad. I figured you know of his plans. Rommer are you planning any big trips this season? I think someone needs to plan a SPBM trip like they used to have when we were a Yacht club. Not that I ever made on one the two I planned on joining both got canceled after I signed up. Maybe that should tell me something. I feel so unwanted.

My wife has been after me for several years to do the Chesapeake. In fact we are part of the behind the scenes driving force to push for a group trip down that way. I used to plan and co-ordinate the yearly trips with a bunch of friends and quickly learned you can please some of the people some of the time and all of the people NONE of the time!

These days we prefer to plan our own trips, share the itinerary and if we cross paths with friends that's great. We have no qualms about traveling solo. In fact some of our best memories are the solo parts.

FWIW - traveling with a large group means you can only go to the most popular of places and even then it can be hard to get everyone into a slip. Traveling solo opens up many more places. Most marinas can always squeeze in one more boat but 5 or 6 is a no go!

Nicely said, I wont ask again. LOL
I can understand the problems with larger numbers I too have helped plan a few trip both north and south and with the five boats it was harder to get slips but with enough time in advance all things worked out well. I enjoyed the Solo trip last year with my wife we ran into several ROs and other boaters that I know but it still would have been nice to have a few friends in tow. I just started thinking of the trips I would like to take this season and I just thought it might be nice as a group. We all had smaller boats on those other trips that may have made it easier to find slips as well.
