I have a little 12' skiff I like to fly fish out of.
I made a sliding center seat to row with, but as it turns out, the Engineering and assembly leave a bit to be desired.

However it makes every thing in the boat easily accessible for a stiff old man. I just slide to whereever I need to reach something.

So I cast and row, sometimes I just troll a fly or a small spinner.

This lake is Two miles long. It has inlets and some long side trips.
My GPS says I rowed Six miles and the track looks like a Drunk was doing the rowing.
I was very surprised at the Six miles, but I did Five miles on Wednesday, and got up the next morning and went to Cardiac-re-hab on thursday AM.
It's great exercize. It can be a little frustrating in the wind, and I also had too much weight in the bow which made it a little unruly to steer.
But that'll all be fixed sometime this weekend.

The one really outstanding feature of these two days was: "No Motor" to fool with.
Second: Sitting in the middle of the boat is so much safer than sitting in one rear corner of the boat. It's a tippy little bugger.
And yes I caught Bass and Bream, but no Crappie. I threw those little Bass and Bream back.

One of these days I'm gonna mooch a 'Muddler Minnow' right down on the bottom and maybe catch a Catfish on a fly.

Thud, sounds like a nice day on the water.

Carver...very good!

Thud, if you were smart, you would have one of the grandkids do the rowing for you. Carry a cooler of cokes and beer and have them troll you around while you fish. You could always tell them you need to study the rowing seat from different positions so you can improve on it.

Great way to enjoy getting or staying in good physical condition while catching a few fish. I try to run about fifteen miles a week. Had an MI don'tcha'know. I wish I could combine that with fishing!!!

I cant think of a better way to exercize and not have to put up with the impatience of time wasting.
When your fishing, it aint a waste of time.

Ken, I dont think I can talk the 11 Yr old into drinking any Beer while he rows!

Thud, you have PM.

Sounds like a fun way to exercise. :)

( Wow. "Fun" and "exercise" in the same sentence!%^&! )

Rowing is great exercise and being out on the water cannot be beat regardless of how your boat is powered.

Thud, the beer was for you. I though about it a little more and you need to get the kids some of the Monster Energy drinks. They cost about 2 bucks a can, but after a couple of cans you could have one kid rowing and the other could ski or tube behind the boat.;)

As long as you are boating....its all good!!!
