At kismet. Outside. Inside was full. Some guy comes in and tbones me. Gets hung up on my anchor. 6 foot gash in his searay. I just get a bent anchor and bent bow roller. I don't see any fiberglass damage. Called cops. He left but I spoke to him. This sucks but it could of been worse.

Where there any chicks on the boat.......maybe your boat is a chick magnet ????

Dave, good to see you at kismet. Not good to hear what happened. Fortunately your boat is built like a truck! Have a happy fathers day. Jeff

Dave LI propeller did the repairs on my bow rail if you need someone. I had a real hard time finding any that could do the work. Mark the owner come to my yard and did the work on site.

Sorry to hear you got hit but glad no one got hurt and the damage was minor!

Thanks.
I will try LI propeller, I assume they are allowed in Anchorage. Just want a estimate and back to new.
I will try and get some pics posted. Mostly the bow roller is bent. The anchor itslef as a bend in one of the legs, but its really a slight bend, so may not go after him for that. I could be a prick and insist it all be fixed good as new but I won't. I am concerned about the weight he had on it. The anchor locker door seems loose, so that needs to be fixed. He had a 1986 34' Searay. I hear he suffered the worst damaged with a huge gash on side of boat. Funny how you ask people on dock and I heard 6 inches to 6 feet! Just shows you how different stories can be from eye witness accounts.

Anyway, I have a police report. Spoke to guy. I did all I can, now just get a estimate and fixed.

On the positive side, had a great day at Kismet with my daughter and her friends.
The credit you get now is good for the Inn and the Out.
Out food was pretty good!
Oh, and thanks Doug for the credit!

Funny I had a big orange fender hung off side where current was strong just in case.
Next time I need to hang it on the front!
Boats need air bags. You push a button and this bag inflates out of the bow rail and hangs down and protects the boat.
Push it again and it deflates into the rail!
Ok, over the top I know but all my scratches on my boat have been caused by others and it kills me.
My dock neighbor had a habbit of kissing my boat. He is gone, new nieghbor, older Carver Mariner, ugh! Hope he can dock or is a dock mary!

Just looked a LI Propeller website and I don't see where they do this type of work.
Not looking to get the metal bent, want it replaced.
Anyone know any company that does anchor/rollers?

Dave,

It may be alot cheaper/easier to replace the anchor roller rather than repairing it.

I replaced mine with a heavier duty one. Much better than Regals original unit. Not very expensive.

I have no plans to repair it. I want it as good as new.
Can you guys give me some info on how you replaced yours? With what? Is it a DIY job? Thanks.

Dave Fixing Bow rails is a big part of what they do I'm surprised it's not on his site. Are all you rails welded or do you have seems in places?

Mark's number is 516-644-6449 it can't hurt to get an estimate. He also made me custom mounts for my swim platform and did a great job with that.

Good luck and keep up the positive attitude it's only a boat things can be fixed and no one got hurt that's the key!

Dave (Audrey II), I was on the same dock as Dave, except on the inside. I was not there either to see the incident, but I gotta tell ya, it diid ot totally ruin Dave's day. While many guys would have packed up their toys and gone home, Dave stayed the entire day and enjoyed the beautiful weather at Kismet with his family. Like Audry II says above "it's only a boat", is how Dave handled the day. Kudos to Dave!

It's not the rail.
It's the Bow anchor roller.
The thing the anchor sits into when it comes up with the black roller that rolls it out.
It is bent to one side.

I called my marina, throw them some work for a change.

Sorry I misread your post I thought it said bow rail sorry that anyone can replace and it will look as good as new! Rails are a nightmare to get right!

Guys , Only a boat really ? Its my only serenity . I dont care what happens to the house, the car , the wife... Mess with my boat and we got a problem !

Ok just saying ....

Rob

Rob look at it this way if something really bad happens to your boat you can get an even nicer boat. If something happens to you wife well then I don't know you well enough to go there:)

Replacing the Anchor Roller is not a big deal. I got a nice Lewmar and installed it on my boat a couple of years ago.
It could be worse. You could have been scraped by his anchor rather than the other way around. That happened to me about three years ago. I didn't realize there was any damage until much later when I had a chance to get a better look at it and I had waved the guy off.

I'm interested to hear what if anything you do about the bow rail. Mine was bent when I got the boat. I haven't come across anyone that does that kind of work locally.

Lol ! Dave ur right ! As for the other ! No way would I ever go thru that misery again

Rob
