Ice Makers

My ice maker has never "iced up" I put new door seals in when I bought the boat, not sure if that made any difference.
 
My door is a bit odd it is not hinged directly to the ice maker it is mounted to a decorative panel and this panel is mount to the cabinet it looks very nice but I'm not sure it is sealing perfectly. This said most units I have seen ice up with regular use. Mine gets used all the time so I defrost it about once a month.
 
we have the U-Line fridge/icemaker that fits under the counter in the cockpit.

Use a whole house type filter on the entire pressurized water system, plus renewable charcoal filters for drinking water at the galley sink and icemaker.

maintenance of the water system is key for us and it is bleached and flushed regularly, however we are careful NOT to allow any bleach to get into the charcoal filters.

I would add that this boat features a built into the hull, FIBEGLASS freshwater tank (40 gal)

We have had issues in the past with (supposed) certified drinking water hose at the dock getting GREEN inside.

Perhaps I'll start a new thread on THAT.

It is the exact same one I have. lol. I think you forgot the link.
 
The ice maker was the 1st and only appliance I permanently removed from my boat. It ended up being a great place to mount my Inverter, Solar control display and a large DC circuit breaker distribution panel.

What RWS said is why I removed my icemaker. That small hose that feeds the icemaker must get slimed up. Some may like slime in their ice but not me.

have NOT had a problem with the icemaker or ONBOARD water lines or tank.

The problem is with the green slime inside the DOCK HOSE

I started a separate thread on that.

You only know about the hose. Take off the ice maker hose and cut it .
 
I fill my tank thru a filter and I run use the water quickly because I don't tie into city water unless I'm traveling and spending multiple night in one slip, Even then I run it thru the same filter.

It's time to replace my filter so I will pick up both at the same time.
 
Replaced all the hoses leading to my ice maker last year, using the ice maker all the time. Never had an issue.

Did that last summer, I added in line Tee, the tubing is opaque, if it were green inside there would be some shading, and there was absolutely nothing on the inside of that tubing. NADA. Most of the tubing is original (1993) to the boat. The water for all practical purposes is as pure or cleaner than my home filtered ice maker / drinking water.
