Ice?

I look at the bay from the air almost every day.

The bay is frozen over north of about Poole's Island with a little freezing along the eastern shorelines as far south as Kent Island. Many of the smaller inlets and rivers are frozen over but the major rivers are still clear of ice.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

From what I can tell, where there is ice, it's pretty thin. A warm day or two and it would be gone. Unfortunately, that's not what the forecast is calling for in the near-term.
 
There were times when cars could drive to fire island across the frozen GSB.
