Thanks for the tip, we got it down to Sal last week and he spent a couple of hours showing us the problems we might encounter if we deployed it.
We also found some disturbing things that would lead me to not recommend Givens, even to an enemy. The PRV valve was missing its "cap". If your pressure Relief Valve malfunctions, it can release too much air from your raft with obvious results.
There was a 1988 fishing kit in it. And it was open. It was faded like it had laid in the sun for a period of time. Not reassuring at all.
I took LOTS of photos of these things.
The best thing was finding an honest person like Sal, who was willing to show us the potential problems. IF you have a life raft, you need to go over to "Ask The Captain" and read the thread. One CO2 cylinder's actuation valve was not configured correctly. The valve would not have worked if someone needed the raft. The raft would not have inflated.
I highly recommend Sal to everyone. Even if you have a new raft, it might save your life to have Sal check the configuration. If you want any photos of these things, get your email address to me and I will gladly send them.
