We are done. Boat is on the hard and awaiting shrink wrap and the DRIVES/Gimbals to replaced AGAIN. At least they got all winter to do it this time and did not fail completely in the middle of the season. I just love Volvo - I mean VOLPOS.
I never had a problem with Merc. The OSI(XDP) Composite drives have a design flaw where the bellows are too tight in the area. There are allot of failures with these drives. I hope this goes through on warranty but what is more scary is I only have 1 year left on my warranty. Then I will be paying lots of money every 2 years to replace the gimbal bearings/bellows and etc which should not have to happen.
Yeah. Another bummer. Like I said there are some positives to reflect on here. But at least it's getting warmer. The DSC was fun, better than the Erie in that we saw some Cypress trees and such. Not much wildlife except a squirrel swimming across the canal. But we've seen those on the Hudson. Guess they're tougher up north (eh?).
Yeah, I don't know much about the composites but my DuoProps have run great. No problem at all. Had a problem with the engine not coming up to temp early on but between Volvo & Rick at Pennybridge it did get corrected. Actually I had countless issues with my Chap when I first purchased it. Have not talked to anyone who has had as many. One by one they were eliminated one way or another now all is fine. My boat was one of the first out of the new factory they opened..........................not good to be first in line for some things!
It sure was John. I took her for a spin, then for fuel and a pumpout. She's hauled, powerwashed and winterized. As much as I would have liked to get another weekend out of the season, I can't see doing that work in the cold.
I assume "giggity" is the Scout, I would of done hogan first. Nice thing about the Scout is real easy to winterize, plus you can wait till after Thanksgiving and squeeze in a couple of day trips.
Walter, I winterize the Scout (Giggity), the marina winterizes Hogan. I just pulled the Scout out and brought it home, as of now, maybe we'll have to bring it back next weekend - so far the forecast looks pretty good!
