I'm officially in greenport now !

No, because we originally thought I was 14'4" and they said that was okay.
They just need a pole car.
I think below 14', you don't need a pole car.

> Boat legal width limitation is 8 feet 6 inches.

> Boat Legal height limitation varies by each state. Base measurement is Total height of 13 feet 6 inches loaded onto the trailer.

> Boat Legal length limitation of a single vehicle operated under the vehicle's own power is 40 feet;

> Two-boat combinations vary by each state. Base measurement is 60 feet, with a 53-foot limit on the semi trailer.

> Three-boat combination is 65 feet, with a limit of 28 feet 6 inches for each semi trailer and trailer.

> Legal weight limitation varies by state, subject to all individual axle weights conforming to the Federal Bridge Formula.

The pre-defined limitations for a Yacht Transport Permit are as follows with variations between states:

> Width varies by state.

> Height varies by state.

> Length exceeds varies by state

> Weight exceeds varies by state

> Non-divisible load factor with substantiated application to DOT for each state.

In general, yacht transport that exceed these dimensions and weights will require additional efforts, engineering judgment, and coordination between the yacht transporter, DOT, District Offices, and local authority for each state.

What I read is 13' 6" is max for local states, interstates are 14'. But that is without permits, with permits and route planning you can go higher and every state has different rules. That is all included in the price you pay.

I was 14'5 on the trailer
All new boats are shipped shrink wrapped .
I was strapped with 6 straps . All straps pulled horizontally . Nothing straight down from cleats

Hmmm. How do they strap me down if I am wrapped.

Had that asked to me before, just flowed with it :)

im guessing they make a slight slit in the shrink. then reseal with shrink tape . The weight of the boat alone is not going to work.

Walter that was funny ... VERRY FUNNY

Rob

Rob, my searay weighs less then yours and daves boats. All I had was a strap on the stern on each side. And that went from Long Island to South Carolina...

You can see the starps in the picture with the stern, (last pic).

Curious to see how they strap down Daves boat. Im assuming since its a topic here, we can count on Dave posting some good pics..

ha YEs Dave is the pic man.

Any kind of bump in road will get the load moving. Thats the last thing u want is a load shift. I cant explain it .

Rob

The trailer i was on was air ride equipped. Idk if that makes it any smoother or not. Just looking through my notes

Going to be interesting.
I may be crazy but was thinking of meeting boat on Staten Island to see it go over Verrazano
How many boats can say they went over and under the Verrazano Narrows bridge?
And where does the Narrows come from? Lol

Dave be prepared to be up early if thats the route you want to go. They have restrictions on what time wide loads can cross the bridge.

Dave,
If I am not mistaken they will use the GW Bridge

I don't want my boat in the Bronx!
Man I hate to be driving that truck!

When my guy left the island, he said he was going over the VZ bridge. He wanted to avoid the GW. He said its an easier drive.

I was with Howie when he trailered my boat. They drive as if the boat is an 18 footer.

Think of all those pot holes on the GW !!! god damn.

They took all the air out of the air suspension to lower my height. It was not pretty

Rob

This is scary, if my boat wasn't on a lake, I would of drove it home!
Should of taken it to the coast and drove from there!
