Quick question-
2001 5.0L TBI Bravo3 Merc
I need to change impeller. Just wondering how difficult to access rear of impeller body? the fuel filter looks like it may be in the way.
I just quickly looked at it.
Also, I accidentally broke the attwood v900 bilge pump from mounting bracket. Can I just but a new mount plate or need whole new pump?
Thanks

Take the whole assembly off and R/R it on the bench. On an I/O it's not too bad.

Can't speak to the Atwood.

Lookup the Attwood at their website. They probably have a parts breakdown PDF.

Is the boat in the water or out? It is easier to pull off the entire pump and bench over haul it. I actually keep an extra pump on the shelf for that purpose. However if it is in the water, you want to disconnect the water feed hose last as water will come flooding in and you will either have to plug the hose while you have perform your over haul or quickly connect a second pump.

When you take the pump out, remove the bracket too but put the bolts back in the block so you don't lose them. Wire brush the bracket and paint it with Rustoleum. If you've never rebuilt this one, assume the pump bolts are trashed. Buy the kit that includes the gaskets and new bolts or take the old bolts to the big box store and replace with stainless like I did. Either way, don't reuse the gasket, wear plate, or o ring.
