Is anyone still boating?

I've been trying to get out there. But with three kids all with different activities, lessons, parties, etc. it hasn't been working out so well. I will be taking a trip down to the Chesapeake next month for a couple weeks though. looking forward to that.

Any plans for this weekend?

Weekend's starting to look good. We're staying local this weekend. I just want to get some sun a water time and relax. We'll pick either Croton or Bowline depending on which looks more inviting.

Went out to flag day in hudson, anchored near athens lighthouse with a friend. Fireworks were awsome but unfortunately, the Iron Eagles did not fly (acrobatic biplanes) because of the weather. Had a great time anyway. I agree, the river is very quiet this year.

If you dink around to the west side of the park (south of the anchorage) you can hear some music. You used to be able to "sneak" in by dink, not sure if you still can...

Last year I sent a letter to the festival organizer asking for dink access, or at least his support for it, and got a response that indicated he had no control over it, and I needed to take it up with the county executive.

(EDIT: Just found this on the festival website. Emphasis is mine...)

The Clearwater Festival at Croton Point Park is located half way between NYC and Poughkeepsie, less than an hour train ride from New York City’s Grand Central Terminal or less than an hour train ride from Poughkeepsie’s Metro North train station. By car, the drive is about an hour north from New York City or about an hour south from Poughkeepsie. Croton Point Park is located one mile from the Croton-Harmon train station. Due to Parks regulations, audience members are not allowed to arrive by boat at the festival.

The park has no official dinghy access,(in fact, they are VERY boater un-friendly - I heard that the park manager thinks that the boats anchored there are an eyesore) but you can get someone to drop you off at the beach in the northwest corner, right near the point. Not sure if there is any further entryway that you would need to pass through.
