To be worried that Isaac will ruin our Labor Day weekend?
 
Your late to that party. I've been debating non-refundable block island slip reservations for a week already!
 
In 2006 I was at Champlins for LD WE. That is their Christmas and New Years celebration weekend and it is usually packed. That year we had tropical storm Ernesto and it was a mess. Boats were getting pounded by 2-3+ ft waves in the Great Salt Pond. No fun.
 
Irene ruined the start of my LD WE last year.
Kind of odd that 2 years in a row the "I" letter is around the same timeframe.

I wouldn't want to rafted at champlins in a storm.
On second thought, I don't ever want to be rafted at Champlins.

We're off most of next week down here in the Chesapeake. I'm feeling pretty sure I'm going to get rained out. If not by one storm, then by the other one.
 
We're leaving for the Chesapeake Sat. Taking the little boat with us. Not looking good.
 
This is for block island boat basin. No refund and no credit unless THEY cancel us for a hurricane. But even if we don't get the full force it could make seas too rough to want to venture outside the bay. I don't want a $500 slip charge pushing me into a bad decision. As of right now they have space. I'm either going to wait till next week and see if the forecast firms up. Or i'm heading to Cuttyhunk like I usually do for labor day.

There was some hurricane that was a near miss two years ago that cancelled our out of bay plans and we ended up in Newport. Last year Irene came thru a week before labor day I believe so we were able to make it out to Cutty. I hate the hurricane tap dance. At least I'm not in FL!
 
I thought you were asking if was too soon to winterized the boat. You still have a couple weeks for that. :)
 
Jeez, we moved into our house in Clifton Park the day after Irene hit up here. I think we were one of the last loans that Key Bank allowed to fund before shutting everything down while assessing the extent of the damages. Thankfully our house was fine, but I spent a good deal of the next week on the phone with government officials trying to get help for disaster-affected businesses up here...

Oh well, that was last year - good luck and Godspeed in your travel plans, here's hoping that Isaac takes a hike...
