I'm new to the newsgroup and see many of you get together every weekend for a raft up. Is there ever a once a year event that is organized in advance that the majority of peaple meet up for?

It would be nice to put a face to the screen names.

We have had a joint LICC/HRCC for a number of years but alas this year seems to be in limbo. Maybe your query will revive interest.
You can call any of us on the radio most weekends and request a tie up! Most people here use their boat name as a forum name. (OK so I don't our boat is Wake-N-Waves)

Channel 69 is the official HRCC hailing channel.

Rats, I was thinking about asking to join up one of the raft ups this weekend. I shoulda called on 69. Ah well. The admiral and I would def be down for an official or unofficial thing.

John, are you guys usually rafting up on Labor Day weekend or is that more of an extended travel weekend for most of the group where you are out of the area? I hadn't planned to do a Hudson trip this year, July is fully booked with boat trips and I wanted to leave August free for more fishing and local trips (and other plans are already starting to fill those weekends). I was just thinking the past week though that maybe Labor Day weekend would work, we'd have an extra day and not have to take off. I'm not sure yet, but it's a good possibility because we'll never get into Watch Hill that weekend and it's often hard to get guys together for a tuna trip since everyone has plans. Can't commit to it yet, but wanted to see if you'd usually be around then.

Labor Day weekend could be a good date for a raft-up!

John

A big labor day blowout sounds interesting. Merits some serious thought!

Who else is interested?

(edited to be PC!)

Thanks for the wakeup call! Geeze, summer just came around already!

I don't want to think about Labor Day weekend either... Still a long way off, just some advance planning and another trip to look forward to :-) Many great boating weekends from now! :)

I was wondering about the big raft up too. Hope we could do something before Labor Day weekend!

KD, we are around most weekends, give us a shout.

Boy, I am away from the computer for 12 hours and look what happens. Let's make something unoficially official.

Maybe we can set something for the end of july.(I'll be away till the 17th) How about July 21-22 (overnight)?

Where would it be and what would we need besides boats, bodies and beverages?

I'm not back from vacation until July 23rd. I'm pretty sure a fair number of the Croton/Bowline crowd are away till then as well.

Perhaps the following weekend?

Last weekend in July?

I walked it off the chart tonight. Looks like about 74 NM. Give or take.

Ken give it another 10. My Nobeltec software route from coeymans to croton pt have it at around 84.5. It was easy to piece together from old routes I had laying around on the hard drive. At a 20k cruise and around 8gph you're looking at 4 hours 3 minutes to 4 hours 18 minutes with a burn of around 32 to 35 gallons.
Not much difference due to tide given the speed and distance.
At 10K it's either 8 or 8.5 hours. You have to see the plot for this one...

I can't do the weekend of the 29th, how about the 4th and 5th?

I would definitely be up for a big raftup on labor day weekend. I need to try and get over there sometime earlier. Just beware I might need some help if coming in by myself.

Even if I don't come alone, I would need a bit of help as well.

Maybe we can do one over labor day but maybe we can do one earlier.

Thanks,
MJK

Thanks, Dan. It might have been more accurate if I walked it off at 1/2 mile instead of 1, but heck that is not bad considering all of the twists and turns.

The Nancy J's slow cruise is good for 17-19 knots rb2@gr5t 2900 RPM and 9-11 GPH depending on tide. So that means we will make it down there with about a quarter tank to spare but will have to fill up before heading home.

New plotter hopefully will ship from Boat Fix hopefully this week.

I am pretty flexible on weekends at this point, but it would be great if we can pin down a weekend where a bunch of us can all meet up.
