Wish I trusted the Swamplizard enough to go over but alas - she has been flaky-er than usual so local shake out trips first and then .....

Where abouts are you thinking of and how long of a stay? Abacos are closest with pretty good bang for the buck. Bimini is ok to fuel up or play around the Sapona etc. for a day but otherwise....

agreed - we like going to Grand Bahama and hitting the Bahamian sea and going east for as long as we can can afford....gunkholing most of the way

Hmm... Lucaya is "ok" for a little, and if you are going that far, perhaps the Berry Islands and Great Harbour might be fun. I am not sure how the marina is doing these days hopefully the pool was cleaned up and reopened.

Old Bahama Bay is where we stop on the way over to the Abacos. It has a great pool and we enjoyed their beach and restaurant on the beach. Cheaper fuel than the Abacos. Make sure you check the Explorer Chart web site fuel and dockage rates where you intend to stay.

The only reason to go to Nassau would be to fuel up or visit Atlantis for a couple of nights on the way to and back from the Exumas. I have a very recent report that Chub Cay is making good progress towards being a (expensive) destination.

Chub has always been expensive... Went there a f years ago and it was $3 or $4 a foot.

I don't see the appeal to grand bahama either. From broward, great harbor day is a few more miles but well worth it. The marina is nice and has been improving for the last 6 or 7 years from what I ve heard. Nice beaches around. Only down side of th Berrys is that you have to go thru open waters to get around the different keys so you have to deal with the weather.

Now I can not see atlantis as a reason to go to nassau... $5 to &7 a foot plus ridiculous power and water, to have cattle walk by your boat and look at a bunch of pink stucco. That's if y don't get run over by their golf carts on the docks. Cheaper fuel ( compared to the other islands), a quick provisioning top off and picking up people is the only attraction there.

Current location... Next to Oven Rock, Great Guana Cay, southern Exumas :)
