I've decided to head up to the marina today to check on the boat - I have not been on her since before Thanksgiving!!

I'm getting the itch...

I have been there at least twice a month. Your boat is a little buried in but I always take a quick look to make sure any boat I know is OK besides I have to pass yours to get to mine.
I'm getting very antsy the days seem to be getting longer not just in day light but mentally.

Too much snow around the boats to really do anything. It was 70 degrees in my salon yesterday afternood, very enjoyable to hang in the boat again and not freeze.

We still have 4 weeks to go.

Hang on guys, it's coming!!

68 degrees today, sunny and calm. We have the trade winds sending it in your direction.

Well, I got up there today, I removed the port engine aftercooler and brought it home to clean it out. Next week, I'll pull the starboard one.

It was very pleasant under the shrinkwrap.

Yes, it is getting better all the time. The days are getting longer also! To celebrate we went out in the dink and pulled in 3 conch. We're having conch chowder and cracked conch again!
I will admit we had our fun and shouldn't complain BUT the gas down here sucks and it's jamming up the carbs like crazy. Everyone is getting it in their dinks it seems. I've had to remove it and clean it out twice this year. I even put a separating filter on and we're still getting gummed up.

Dan,

What else do you have to do down there???

The land time forgot.

You read the BoatDiesel article about the Cummins aftercoolers?

Yep, that's why I'm pulling them apart.

So far, I found the remains of an impeller at the bottom, the lower zinc completely gone, and some nasty crap on the lower cap. The upper cap is fine. I got the tubes out without much difficulty and they are pretty clean. I'll wash them out, get new gaskets, replace the zinc, grease it up and put it back together.

I was on the boat about 3 weeks ago and got alot done in the cabin and engine room, was not to bad, was able to work without being to cold.

There was Junkanoo over in Marsh last night but it ran very late. But now that you mention it I have had more time to wax the boat :D Besides that I work on it and improve my cooking skills. Weber still rocks!

Anyway, having done 30 years of programming we still don't miss "it". I was seriously counseled that I would miss the place. Not.

I just saw the Weber at Lowes for $169, ouch. I paid $119 for mine.

Still a great value.

Price reductions like that are inevitable. Too bad they don't happen at marinas. Especially given the wear and tear on docks, other facilities and neighborhoods.

Sears has the Weber Baby Q for $139 and tonight 10-20% off.
