Jabisco Manual Tiolet VERY hard to pump

I have a manual Jabisco 29090 series manual head. THe problem is that last season I b had the tank pumped for the season. This year, the tiolet would pump. I winterized the tiolet.

THe pump is very hard hard, I tried checking for blockage in the tiolet, joker valve and waste line. THe waste line runs flats for about 12'. I not not completely sure the waste line is not clogged at the tank. THe vent appears open. THe tank does appear to be slightly "sucked" in as if the air has been removed.

any ideas?
 
When did you do the annual head pump maintenance? Did you lube the pump? Is the raw water inlet seacock open?

( Excuse me, but I always start at the beginning. )
 
Is the valve on the head or possibly the sea-suction valve closed?
 
The seacock is open and working, It will fill with water no problem

When the lever is switch to DRY bowl, it is extremly hard to push. If I push the pump down and hold it down I can hear a slight air bleed off. I remove the vent, still the same.

I winterize last November.

Today I removed the 2" waste line from the tiolet and pumped without resistance

Check to be sure. And, given the appearance of the top of the HT, confirm for certain that the vent is clear.

This begins to sound like the following:

HT overfilled, clogged vent/vent filter. Tank was "pumped out", but since vent was clogged, tank not emptied. You now have a clogged vent and a full HT. I hope not. That has the potential to be a stinky issue.

While you are in there, lube the pump ( an annual issue ) and, possibly, install a Jabsco head service kit ( the rest of the annual service ). Won't hurt ( will smell ) and will help ensure a happy season.
 
Call Mike Irving, at Jabsco Customer Service (978) 282-5227. He's my counterpart at Jabsco. They had a problem a while back, with their flush/dry valves, and I think they have some sort of upgrade for them. They were sending them out at No Charge for a while; don't know if they still are...
 
Trash the Jabsco! I got tired of messing with all the issues it brings. Even though more expensive, well worth the cost, I installed a Raritan PHII. I feel it is more efficient per stroke and my guests appreciate the ease of using it after they suffered though using the Jabsco.
 
Vent??? The flush/dry valve was usually the problem. Call Jabsco.
 
Try disconnecting the discharge hose from the toilet and then see if it works. If so you have a blockage somewhere on the way to the tank. If it's still hard, the problem is in the toilet (disassemble and try a "kit").
 
good advise.

I will take the discharge hose off and see if the pump resistance is reduced. Either way, I'm gonna get all "browned" up
 
Well, at least you're not on the space station, waiting for parts....
 
Dump some baby oil or mineral oil in it, then pump some water through it. Sounds like the pump just needs lube.
 
I spoke with Mike today, He's thinking theres ablockage in the discharge hose. I will disconnect the discharge this weekend and try to locate the blockage.
 
Another thought after re-reading your description. Something which has happened on mine is the gasket inside the pump housing begins to wear and when I switch to 'dry' mode it is hard to pump. When this happens I switch it back to to 'wet' then to 'dry' then hold it firmly in the 'dry' position and it'll pump then. I know it's time maintenance if it gets to that point.
It just seems to my that blockage in the discharge hose would also prevent pumping when you have it in 'wet' mode since it's still pumping out.

that's what I was thinking as well.

I removes the vent completely, same problem

I cleaned the vent and reinstalled
 
I removed the discharge line today.
I sent a plumbing snake in all the way to the tank, no blockage.

At this point, I'm ready for a new tiolet.
 
Up to you, but it's probably a lot less expensive to repair what you have.

Unless you want to bite the bullet and go electric; pricey but the Admiral will love it.
