Toilet doesn't work (draws electric power but seemed to be jammed). I took the toilet apart and did not find any obstructions in the macerator or impeller. The motor still seemed to be jammed. I worked the shaft around a few times, sprayed in some WD-40 and hit the switch (after restoring power). Either nothing happens, but the motor is drawing power as evidenced by the dimming of the lights, or the motor will turn for about two seconds and die from a seeming lack of electrical power. The shaft is in no way free spinning and seems to be binding. Any thoughts? Do I need a new motor?

If I do replace the motor, where are the electrical connections made (access panel location, or does the wiring harness just pull out of the wall and switch?).

BTW, the toilet is Jabsco, Model 37010, Electric Marine Toilet and the motor is a Jabsco, Model #37010-1090. I noticed that Boat Fix doesn't stock the replacement motor with the same part number (last four digits are 0900) - will this work?

Thanks for any help, suggestions!

I think I have the same model toilet. Re the wiring; in mine it goes from the distribution panel to the switch to the motor. Whether you have access depends on your installation. The simplest thing MAY be to cut the wires near the motor and splice in the new motor.

From what you describe I'd guess that somehow water got past the seals and into the motor. You won't know until you take the motor apart. If it's dry and clean I'd try just oiling the bearings and see if it would free up. Otherwise...

Sounds like the same problem I had a few weeks ago. It sounds like water has gotten into the otor and has corroded it to the point that the armature is bound. I was able to disassemble the motor and found that one of the permanent magnets had come loose from the corrosion and was binding the armature. i was able to clean it up to the point where I epoxied the magnet back in place and it runs fine. About 2 hours work sure beat $100 plus for a new motor. Try it, you may find it can be repaired rather easily.
