So I purchased a Jet boat to keep the kids occupied. The majority of the people I spoke to prior to the purchase gave it a negative response. After doing my homework I went fwd with the purchase.
Its a ton of fun and have no complaints....

Anyone looking for a 2nd putz around boat should definitely give it hard look.

Just have fuel money ready ... they are a thirty machine ...

Rob

FYI I made it from merrick to Lindenhurst in 25 mins. ( tru the flats ) its usually and hour and 15 tru the state channel.

I was ... RED Yamaha 212 SS.

Wife and daughter we behind the me ....

I also took it to blast around my buddy in a 45C.

Rob

Did u wave ? : )

We did an overnite in hemlock .... and I shot over to the robert moses bridge on the north side then up linden cut on sunday .

was blasting around on Saturday ....mostly in flats .....

50 gallons of fuel later..... : o

88A, WTF is that? I don't think I have any letter channels!

HI,

I sold my boat last year and am looking into a jet ski possibly for fishing ?

i am 64 years old so not really looking to speed around all over the place (you never know though)...but i think it may be fun especially if i can rig it to fish from.

I was looking into yamaha ...did you buy new or used...any recommendation/suggestions are appreciated. located in masssapequa

thanks
john

John,
I bought it for Speed, tubing and just being stupid . There is no place for rod holders. Freeboard is really low. UR surrounded by seating . not really a fish boat. I would have a hard time convincing it fits ur use.

Docking it is a huge PIA. ( into a slip ) The ride is very dry. ( except when jumping wakes )

a Used CC is more what u should be looking for . This is purely a R&R vessel.

please feel free to ask away

Rob

hi george,
thanks for you help...yep that can be a problem...when i had my boat never really ran into that problem...i know my friends boat was in area of lindenhurst and he had some problems with eel grass....definately something to think about. thanks again john

Problem I had with a jet ski (Sea-Doo, 2007) in your neck of the woods was eel grass. It would clog the water intake and I would have to jump off to clear it. Major pain in the butt. I am not sure if newer models solved this or maybe it was just my model.
As far as outfitting the jet ski to fish, definitely doable

The Yamaha has clean out ports easy to access to clear any eel grass. No more climbing under....

rob,

from what i have seen some people put a cooler on the back, attached to the cooler are rod holders, etc.

docking being a pain...i would most likely trailer it...how is offloading and reloading onto trailer..a hassle ?

thanks, john

IDK.. I keep it in RACK STORAGE...

since ur bowing onto the trailer it should be a piece of cake.

U still have to get it to the dock to fetch ur car ... lol

Rob, were you coming back to the marina from tubing around 8:00 or so? pretty sure I drove right past you
