when cruising around biscayne bay, dont' miss Jimbos' !

i had heard of it but never been there, since i can't get in with my boat. Now that we have a decent dink, we can anchor off in the bay and dinghy in.

The entrance to Jimbo's lagoon is right across from Fisher Island Marina, there is about 4' even at low tide if you stay close to the starboard side coming in the channel. no problem with outboards or sterndrives, I've seen a 40 sail boat in there...

Everything in there is hazzard... the dock is falling apart, garbage, dogs and cats, it's a structural hazard, health hazard, fire hazard... you name it. What left of the colorful shacks built for a movie set are falling apart but people come by boat, harleys, benz or rusted out yugos. the beer is cheap and a number of local characters provide the entertainment.

it's incredible that the place still exists, but the city has backed off along with the developers. no doubt that when old Jimbo dies, the bulldozers will be going thru.

i posted some pictures at...

When you around the bay and have an hour or two, stop by Jimbo's while you still can.

Thanks Pascal, I checked out Jimbos web site. That is a very neat looking place. I get the ominous feeling from reading about Jimbos that he is getting older in years and is most likely being circled by the vultures waiting to do a land grab on that property.
