That's right- August 1. For those who don't know, this is an annual raftup/party held on the upper Chesapeake. The highlight is a (very good) live band playing from the front deck of a houseboat pretty much all day. No invitation needed- just show up!
The exact location is "Sand Island", which is a charted spoil just west of Fishing Battery (about 3 miles NW from Turkey Point).
Last year they estimated over 100 boats showed up. It's quite a party.

We're thinking about stopping by, depending on the weather, traffic, and our friends' plans. I heard about this on Speedwake as well. Looks like fun, and there's NOTHING wrong with that!

Arks has a kayak you can borrow. I hear that the winds will be out of the south, so they'll push you over....
 
Wish we could go to this event. Looks like fun......but, we can't go. Truck is in the shop for body work after getting wacked. So, we're stuck boating out of the boatel in Woodbridge, VA on the Potomac.
MikeeH - When we get up that way again,, we'd be glad to have you ride with us.

Head north up the Chesapeake toward the Susquehanna. "Sand Island" is the unofficial name of an unnamed spoils island on the west side of the channel leading to the Susquehanna.

Chuck- hope you guys can make it. Isn't there also a poker run that day from Northeast?
 
That was a LOT of boats and ZERO aggravation. Great time; glad we got to see you again and introduce you to some of our "other" friends. Just make sure to get a blender onboard before the next one. No one could believe that you didn't have one on that monster....
 
I heard via another board that is most likely not going to happen this year as Joe is having health issues.
