Took the boat out Saturday about noon, cruised around tell about 4:30 and pulled into Moores to spend the night. Had a great dinner, the stuffed sole was very good. Got up Sunday, had coffee and pulled out about 10:00am. Cruised around for about two hours, then dropped a hook and had lunch. The wind had died down from the morning which was quit breezy. After about an hour my wife was commenting that she was feeling a few pains in her chest. No emergency at that time, but we decided to pull the hook and head back. We had got home about 2 1/2hrs later. About an hour later she said that we should go into town and have it checked out.
At about 11:30 that night we had found out that she had a heart attack, and that she would be schuduled for the procedure to check for blockages the next day. Monday at 5:00pm we find out that she has a blockage, but it was to close to the heart, and the doctor elected not to put a stent into it at that time. We spent a long day today wondering, and at 4:00pm the doctor came in, and told us that after confering with a group of other heart doctors that they would go ahead tomorrow morning and put a stent in. That was a relief, considering the alternatives. So if all goes well she should be home tomorrow afternoon.
As the the title says, you just never know.
She being 57 years old and no problems before, and no heart problems in her family.

You're so right, dvan... One never knows... The good part is that it was caught in time. My best wishes for tomorrow, and let us know how it went.

dvan,

Sorry to hear about your wife's health problems, but thank God you detected it early and she's OK. My sister at age 51 had a similar event with a severe blockage they call the 'widowmaker', but is living a normal life today with a stent, lifestyle changes and regular followups.

Please keep us posted on her progress. We will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers.

Thank God she got to the hospital in time. Best wishes, we'll say a prayer for a full and speedy recovery.

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers. I told her the sooner she gets over this, the sooner we can be back on the water. She loves to be on the boat.

Glad to hear that everything is working out okay. While in Jackson Hole over the summer, my wife experienced chest pains and we ended up in the emergency room. Luckily, it turned out to be a bit of indigestion and muscle strain from riding the Alpine Slide at Snow King Resort. It is a "luge" type of attraction where you sit in a little car with rollers and come down a 2500 foot long track installed on a ski slope. We never thought about how much effort it took to do the controls on the ride. The doctor was talking to her about unusual activities and we didn't think even think of it. When my son asked her if she'd be able to ride the Alpine Slide with him AGAIN, the Doctor smiled and explained that this was probably what was causing the pains.

Hope your wife is back up and on the water again soon.

dvan, thankfully it was "mild" enough to get home. We are all fortunate enough to live in an age where recovery is possible. Your Admiral & you are in our prayers.

Thanks so much for having my wife in your thoughts and prayers. She had the second procedure done this morning, and it came out great. The doctor was impressed with the work he had done, being in such a difficult location. She should be on her way to a full recovery. If all goes well today, she will be released tomorrow. I asked the doctor if this would put a stop to our vacation starting next Wednesday, and he said there shouldnt be a problem. I told him we were going to Oregon, and would it be OK to ride the quads because we are going to the dunes. He said well maybe not riding, but hiking would do her great. Well I guess I will be doing hiking between rides. It will probably do me some good too. Thanks again all.

PS....Dave, I think my heart would hurt after that 2500' ride also.

dvan, thanks for the update! I'm so glad that things are going well. Enjoy that Oregon vacation.....

Dave, I'm so glad your wife's heart is still doing fine! Those chest pain episodes can be pretty scary.

DVAN,

You are really lucky - and like you say, you just never know. I'm 58, get annual checkups, eat pretty healthy, but you just never know. I'm so glad to hear all is well, and that we still have you guys as delta boaters!

Have a great vacation!
Jim
