Posting for a friend who bought a 2014 Formula 37PC. Boat has a Kohler Gas generator, not sure of the model. He said 7.4 but I didn't see a 7.4 in Kohler's lineup.

I will try to get exact model.

Anyway, when he starts Genny it will die quickly and he has to go down below and prime it. He spoke to a mechanic and the mechanic says he has to do this every time on that model. That seems silly to me. Why would a 2014 model have manual prime and not hold prime? I am thinking the fuel line or filter is not mounted right or allowing it to suck air.

Thoughts?

I have a gas kohler, 7.4kw I believe, vintage 2001. I don't prime it at all, never did, wouldn't know how.
This sounds like a bad installation.

Dave,
Something is up with that? I didn't have that problem with either boat.
Next time I'm around I will take a look. What did Formula say?

He is having issues with Formula service as they gave him Steve's marine who is impossible to get a hold of during busy times.
He went to Vinny at East Shore since he does merc and kohler and Vinny told him that.
He is also have a engine issue with water coming out of a relief valve on one motor.
I am thinking it may be a lose fitting on the generator fuel line sucking air.
