Lake Ontario to NYC for the 4th of July in 2010

I would expect the fireworks to return to the East river this year. The reason they moved them to the Hudson was to help celebrate the anniversary of Henry Hudsons Cruise up the river.
 
So Liberty harbor may be better choice if the fireworks are in the east River? You'll have to forgive me as my knowl;edge of NYC is pretty poor, despite living in upstate NY my whole life.

I will definately check out the waterways guide.

Wayne, the last time I was in Sylvan Beach, it was definately hopping at night. Had some great ribs and wings, and a good number of cold beers.

Liberty Landing and Liberty Harbor are both in the Morris Canal. You will have to take the boat out to see the fireworks. They have fireworks at Liberty State Park every year as well.
