Has anyone looked into or installed a larger holding tank on a 3227? I've taken out the panels and found some dead space. It seems with just a little reworking of some hoses and wiring you could get a bigger tank in the factory location if one can be found to fit the space.

Here is a picture of the area I am talking about.

I have thought about it even found one that would work. I think that is was made by a company called Todd. I decided not to do it because of the work and mess involved.

I replaced mine and took out the platform, Dont remember how big ---I think around 20 gallon

So I bit the bullet and decided to replace the entire head system on my boat. This also lead to replacing the water heater and reconfiguring the shower drain setup.

I ended up pulling everything out of the area with the holding tank and water heater. I had a new platform made from starboard to support the new 25 gallon Todd holding tank (5 gallons more the original). I installed all new sanitation hoses as well as the deck pump plate which required me to remove the electrical panel to gain access.

The shower drain pump wouldn't fit in its original location so I am installing a shower sump box in the forward bilge with all new 3/4" hose.

I decided to go ahead and replace the 23 year old water heater while I was at it and am installing a 11 gallon Seward with heat exchanger.

As for the toilet I am installing a Sealand Masterflush 8100 series head and converting to fresh water flush. The new toilet is standard height so I was able to remove the step up floor in the head.

Here are some pictures to give you an idea of the project.

Good job, you certainly have more ambition than me at this point. Did you re-plumb the water system while you were in there or did you just use the old stuff? The original gray fittings are horrible. I need to re-do mine at some point and get it over with.

I have not completely re-plumbed the water system. I have put in a new variable speed water pump, added dockside water hookups, cockpit wash down, and had to add some length to the existing lines for the new water heater.
