We are planning a trip to circumnavigate LI. We are coming up from Barnegat. Thought we'd go into Jones Inlet and stay at Freeport. Then make our way east to Fire Island, Great South Bay, probably stopping along the way and ending up at Shinnecock. It looks like we can then go to Great Peconic Bay and out to Montauk, Sag Harbor, Greenport, etc.
I've read the posts regarding shoals on the south shore and how the inlets aren't well marked. We have a Searay 390 cruiser.
Any tips?
