Link to pics-Shed Collapse

A friend of mine sent pictures of the Georgetown marina sheds. It really looks like a disaster/mess. Look at it this way if you are properly insured you might end up with a better boat than when you started.

Froggy good luck with your boat. Once they get it out make sure you check for crazing and cracks in the gelcoat caused by the weight of whats on top of the boat.

Froggy,
I hope when the day is done, all works out for you.

Best of luck

Walter

Best of luck to you Froggy and to the other owners.

Just curious, in a disaster like this, which insurance is responsible, the boat owner's or the marina's?

Thanks again all. We've been moved to an open slip late yesterday. Surveyor came out today. Not looking too good. The shock was so great that it popped the clasp holding the forward door open and made the door slam shut. Our 50 lb +/- danforth shank was bent from the weight. The ole girl gave it all she had but it may not have been enough. Checked both motors and gen, no water that I can find. A/c's and forward bilge pump had water in the outlet lines (diaphram bilge pump) but not much got into the bildge. Got the snow off today and covered the broken windows. We'll wait to see what happens. This wasn't our hobby, but a way of life and both of us are sick. I'll update when I post the rest of the pics. Have a bunch. We are insured correctly (many weren't) but the boat was a part of us. Bo Bay has it worse that what we had. They were all steel sheds. I can only imaging what they are going through. At least we have a chance to get our personal stuff off. 9 years you tend to have more than you need onboard.
Thx again!

Got back from the marina a few hours ago. What a mess! Nobody hurt, 40 something Post going down they are trying to salvage. Can barely see our boat. Yard crew took me out in the launch to see if I could get onboard. No way. Bow is about 12" low in the water from the weight. Stern is up. Engine cooling tell tales under water so I'm sure the exhaust is filling with water. Shed may have sucked, but yard crew really cared. Even got a call from our ins co that they are following up. Have pics will post when I can.
Thx all!

Froggy,

Sorry for your loss. I was down there on Saturday. Tolchester and BoBay had sheds come down. BoBay has about 80 or so boats under the shed that came down and most of the boats are under water. That 42 Post at Geogetown was a nice ride. The owner just had a paint job and replaced all the railings. What a mess!

This is horrible...best of luck in getting it all resolved

froggy,
Sorry it's looking so badly for your Chris. We won't be down until 2/26 but do not hesitate to let us know if you need a warm bed for a couple of days instead of running back and forth.

Tell the boat owners that we they can steal Billy's boat in great condition.

Thanks for all your thoughts and accomodations. I'm only an hour drive away and need to get home to recoup. I've been touting Billys boat so you never know...... Going back down again today to start getting some stuff off. Regardless how it turns out, we'll have to remove all our belongings. They moved all boats out from I dock yesterday due to the impending storm. I heard the last storm had rain and sleet, thus the heavy snow.
Thx!
