Liquid fabric softener into vacuflush system?

I ran into a guy who routinely puts liquid fabric softener down his vacuflush head claiming it lubricated parts within and prevented plugging.
I've never had a problem and not inclined to start doing this. I was wondering if anyone has seen this, done this etc?
 
LOL Just smile, nod your head and move along.

It's the same response you give the people who put olive oil down their heads. Only in that case it's right after asking them if they recommend you use only extra virgin.

It's just a waste of money and perfectly good fabric softener that's all. :-)
 
fabric softener or Calgon in the holding tank come from the recreation vehicle world. It supposedly stops crud from sticking to sides of the holding tank and the monitor probes.

I'm picturing the Downy Soft teady bear pumping out a holding tank while happily smelling the air around him.

How much fabric softener are you adding to the tank between pump-outs? I wonder if the chemical treatment's performance is negatively affected by the softener. My holding tank has a bad habit of stinking. I may try doing this.

A couple of questions. Do you have a vent filter? If so, has it gotten wet and not yet been rebuilt or if not, has it been rebuilt lately due to age? If you do not have a filter, what diameter is your vent hose? If it's large enough to fit a garden hose in, consider this. Pump out. Then turn the water on full blast to force some of the poo off the sides of the tank. Then start pumping out some more. depending on the location of the vent and pumpout, it may take more than one person. I did this with my Regal. I think it had a 15 gallon holding tank and I'll bet I went through 60 gallons of flushing the tank and pumping out the flushed water until the sight glass in the pump out unit was clear.

I use Calgon liquid. Calgon is a water softener, not a fabric softener. There is a difference that one more well versed in Chemistry than I could explain.
 
Looked it up on Wikipedia. . . . chemical ingredients listed, too technical for me.
 
Tanks don't smell if done right.
If you add odorlos religously and do it when empty and don't add chemicals like bleach, fabric softner, pinesol, soap. Or pour coffee, alcohol or anything not organic or TP in there. Then it won't smell.
If you are getting a smell when flushing then the vent filter got wet or is beyond it's useful life or your hoses are contaminated.
