saw an ad for Ft. Layderdale property said to be near the "little florida" area. where is that and what does it mean??

I live in Ft Lauderdale and have never heard of it but I will ask around.

"Little Florida" is a 2-plus acre single dwelling property located on the north bank of the New River. It is about 1/6th of a mile upriver from where the north and south forks of the New River diverge. That makes it about 2 miles west of the US Rt 1 highway tunnel. It is part of the "Sailnboat Bend" community of old homes, many dating from 1920s.

It has long been known to the locals as "Little Florida" because of the uncanny similarity the land has to the overall geography of the state. From a height of 2500 feet one can almost believe you are in a spaceship.
