I have a friend who is moving from Seattle to Long Island and wants to live aboard his 38' Bayliner year round on the Sound. Being a river rat I cant give him good advice. He will be working in the Melville area so as close to that as possible would be prefferable. Suggestions? Thanks.

Do either of them allow full year winter live aboards?
 
Hank my parents lived on their boat at Huntington Yacht Club for about a year while they were waiting for the new home to be completed. They will be at the boat tomorrow if you are around you can pick their brains. I don't think they where the only ones living there it's a very nice marina/club. This said it's tough to live on a boat in the North East in the winter! it gets cold!! Once or twice on really cold nights they choose to take a hotel room. They had a 42 Chris Craft at the time it was tough to maintain the heat.
 
The dad of one of my sons friends lived on a boat year round up in Huntington years ago.
He told me he did it for a couple of years and the winters could get tough at times.
Can't remember the exact size boat he had, but it was a 40 something.
