Looking for any do's and don'ts for getting behind Knights Island off of the Sassafras River. We're 47', 4' draft. Looks like a nice, fairly quiet cove. Can I get back in or best to just poke inside?
Any help is appreciated!
Thx
Chris

Easy to get in there: stay between the center and the left shore as you come in - water is about 8' to about 2/3 of the way back. There is an old tobacco barn on the left - you can anchor about 100 yds offshore from that easily. I have spent many weekends there.......

wv has it. The bottom is all mud so there isn't much chance of hurting anything if you do touch. Just keep it to idle. If you can get to within about 50 yards of the shoreline in back (do not try to go west where the creek turns) you'll find a sandy bottom. Be advised that the best anchorages are taken early in the weekend.

If you look at the charts for that area it clearly shows the channel to follow and you should be able to get well into back creek past the bend if you want to.

The deeper water appears to be to port at the start of the creek, then go to starboard at the bend toward the north then back to port.

Thx again all. Won't make it this w/e due to the heat and the water still too cold for me. But in the next few, we'll be there.
