I see LIYC is running ads on craigslist. I don't know anything about the place. Seems like it might be nice and has new docks? Does anyone have any feedback for a boating couple with no kids on how this place is?

Not first hand knowledge but the captain (no kids) that accompanied me down from Huntington to the south shore had nothing but great things to say about that place. It is def on my list to check out for next year if I don't buy at the Anchorage because although it's further it may be faster to get there because of the proximity to parkways.

I have other boating friends there that really seem to like it too. They have kids.

This is going to be our 10th season at the LIYC. If you stay away from the politics of the club, its a great place to keep your boat. You can't beat the location. The club is open year round and there are events going on each month. During the summer there are boat trips planned, some are day trips and some are overnight trips. If we are not on a trip, we spend the entire weekends at the club, Friday night to Sunday night. They have a great BBQ area down by the water and you can launch small crafts right from the beach area. This year we will have new restrooms and changing area, new playground and many upgrades to the property. Stop by this Sunday for our Open House, 1-4pm.
 
Great feedback... are there slips available for a 17 ft and 24 ft boats? I may try to make it to the open house.
 
Yes, we have some slips left. Stop on by, I will be should be around and will buy you a beer.
 
Wait to you see the cost, totally adds a new dimension of pissing away money. Oh, that politic thing, from what I read is very real!! In defense of the place, it does seem to be a "lifestyle" place, that has entertainment 365 a year, IMHO, that is cool.
