Looking for summer 2015 dockage

looking for Anchorage Yacht club

or behind private house Massapequa to Lindenhurst

Need at leat 16 or 17 feet between poles

if behind a house need 50 amp service and water

I have a slip available at the Anchorage, B-32, it's 15'1" between the poles, catwalk on the starboard side if you're interested.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but your not going to find too many slips that large. You will be lucky to have a slip 15' 6" and have 3" per side.

I have the book which lists every slip size. Number in book is length at the dock, so when you subtract a foot for finger pier, and 4 to 6" for pole on other side, you have to locate a slip in the book that is 15' + 1' + 6" or 16.5 to fit your boat with no room. Add a buffer of say 3" per side and you need a slip in book of 17'

Now looking at the book there are
A dock 3 out of 56
B dock 3 out of 52
C dock 4 out of 57
D dock 7 out of 64
S dock 10 out of 24

All other docks are too small!

So your odds are slim!

By the way B32 is listed as 15.8, which is 15' 10". Take away the poles and 15' 1" makes sense but you didn't subtract the pier. If you measure the pier it is 2' wide, so that slip is 15' 1" between the poles but the pier takes away another 8" from overall width. Now if boat can sit slightly cocked then you are ok.

I am always shocked at how small alot of the AYC slips actually are. But remember when this marina was built the average boat was probably a 12' beam.
 
If you give up the luxury of extra room, you get alot more slips to choose from.
My slip is 14' between the poles, my beam is 13'. Take away pier and I am 13' 2" from side to side. I tie my boat so it rides the far pole and it stays off pier and lucky for me, my neighbor is a smaller boat.

Walter's boat is 15' 4" beam, his slip is 16' 9". He also is very tight but has 16' between poles, then about exactly what he needs at the stern. You can barely fit a fender between him and his dock neighbor, who is tight in his slip.

So your slip choice opens up if you give up the luxury of a few extra inches. I admit 15' 1" is not good for your boat. You need a slip that is in the book for like 16.4, which will be very tight with pier.

If you locate a slip, I can tell you what book says but forget about a slip where you will have anything more than a few inches on each side.
 
I can only speak for the slips that I own, B-32 and B-33, but the actual measurement of useable beam on B-32 is 15'1" measured with a tape measured between the inside of the outer pilings. All of the catwalk, except for the 2"X8"that is nailed to the inner pole is on the B-33 side, which is where I dock my boat, additionally the inner pole was replaced years ago with an 8", or 10" diameter pole thus adding to the usable width. Take a look next time you're in the marina.
 
If what your saying about the finger pier is true, then your usable width is what you say.
Still a 15' beam in a 15' 1" is hard to swallow.
If it was 15' 6" I could see it.

Also note that most boats flair and beam is measured there. So a 15' boat could have a smaller stern!
 
You're correct that slip would not work with a 15' beam boat. I looked at Kevin's profile before I posted and he lists a 30 Maxum 3000SCR as his boat, obliviously he's upgraded. If anyone else is interested the slip is available.

If Dave can't help you at the Anchorage, I know Mike Winter at my Marina and he would take care of you here. I know he has some very nice slips that would fit your beam with plenty of room to spare.. Or tighter, if that is what you are looking for.

Out of curiosity to compare, how much for a slip for Kevin's boat over there and what is included?
I think AYC is alot cheaper.
