Things are getting a bit slushy on Whitehall Creek. Our ice eaters are in and I think they are going to get a work out for the next few weeks. Anybody else still in the water around the Annapolis area? Tim

Tim,
Not in Annapolis but when we left the house at Still Pond on Sunday I was thinking that I may bring ice skates next week. Only the flocks of geese were keeping portions of the creek somewhat ice free.

Fishing Creek, here in Annapol, off Thomas pt. is frozen out 200ft from shore. Our pier is 145, and when I took de-icer out to end, it went right through, so no walking or skateing down here. We grow oysters for the Bay foundation ( 4 cages) and they are just under the ice. Until we get some SW winds, the water stays at a low level.

Rock Creek just getting some skim ice at times (the wind has kept most of it ice-free). I'm going again tomorrow to check on things. The ice eater has been in since mid-December, thankfully.

Forget ice eaters.. Go Green!!! Get Geese!!! ;)

Ice heaters in at Kent Narrows since Sunday morning. Ice had already formed around boats and part of marina before marina started firing up the bubblers. I wasn't to pleased with their slowness to react!

At least your marina has a system. I have to provide my own.

I had my ice eater on a outside air thermostat and that wasnt working. Once it got cold I had to run the ice eater directly to the power. When it warmed during the day it would stop. Then at night when the temp. dropped it would come on. It should have stayed on 24hrs. to get rid of some of that ice while it was warmer out. Everything was freezing around the boat. Now that I run it directly it has done a great job. So until the days start getting in the 40's and the ice is still forming at night I am running it 24/7.
