My wife and I were watching the search from our anchorage Saturday night. We were on the southeast side of Hog Island about a half mile from the search.

There were at least 2 boats, 6-7 cars on the levee, helicopter circling overhead, and multiple K-9 units (we could hear them barking).

We both slept lightly that night.

There were more Sheriff patrols than usual way down on the Delta Loop too. I stayed over on the boat Saturday night.

How is it that this guy was able to get away? It's apparent the Sheriff's Department doesn't know how to handle real crime situations.

Besides, it's much easier to write tickets to harmless boaters anyway. And capturing criminals won't make any money for the county.

I don't know how he could be hiding on that island this long. Maybe he swam away or maybe he drowned while attempting to swim away on that deep dark river and won't show up for another three weeks.

That's a distinct possibility. With all those resources, I can't see how he would be able to get away.

But then again, I haven't heard that they were able to find the yellow boat with red flames either. How hard could it be to find something like that?

No doubt the LE has an idea who they are looking for and the person is likely not going to hang out away from family, friends or food to long and will eventually be apprehended.

According to the News10 link in yzer's first posting, they know the identy of the person.

No news to report today except there were two victims and not three.
