My fresh water pump quit this weekend. Suggestions for new one? They are expensive.. Is there anything I can do to repair the jabsco unit I have ?

I'm pretty sure all these water pumps are sealed making them repairable is difficult if not impossible.
Depending on the model, you can get a decent one in the $100-150 range. Not a wallet breaker.
I just replaced mine for $115.

I just went through the same problem. overnight I no longer had water pressure. I thought a fitting might be loose the replaced the pump. the old one was running but I don't know how well. a neihgbor on the dock suggest checking the in line water filter it might be plugged. I think that might be the problem but I am having difficulty accessing it. that is the project for next weekend. the pump I bought was $150 about average

Look for a clogged or broken check valve right after the water pump.

Dave, when you say the pump failed - how did it fail? Does it still run? Did it stop pumping? Does it pump, but won't shut off? Give us a little more info to go on. Also, the model of the pump will be helpful - Jabsco makes more different kinds of pumps than you can count.

The pump is not running at all... Sorry I dont have the model, I'll have to pull it this week.
It just suddenly stopped running. There is power at the pump but I havent puled to check for clogs..Seems ike it would be running unless as was said there is a clog on the pressure side resuling in pressure turning the pump off.

I have a couple of Jabsco PAR-4's. There is a pressure switch on the end of the pump in series with the power. If that switch fails the unit won't run. Try putting power directly to the motor leads (bypassing the switch). I have replaced the switch assembly on several pumps. Luck. Dale

most pumps i've seen can be disassembled and repaired.

if it's not running, check / bypass the pressure switch.

hard to tell you more if you dont' even say what kind of pump, how old, etc... is it one of the newer electronic models ?

if it has a pressure swtich and the switch isnt' the issue, then open it up and check the motor. could be as simple as brushes...

i had a problem on an electronic shurflo a few months ago, it developped a leak which resulted in the motor filling up with water... nice design ! one brush was arced and damaged, fixed that and the motor was good.

clogs are unlikely on the outlet of a water pump... a clogged screeen on the inlet wouldnt result in no pumping but the motor would turn

Its a jabsco ( as I said, just dont know the mode ) It does have an integrated pressure switch which I suspect is the cause. Otherwise the pump would attempt to turn and at least pop the breaker.
The motor is drawing no current
