Spent the night on our boat last night and the tides are about as low as I've ever seen. With strong winds coming out of the north - northwest and pushing water down the Potomac and bay, it's really low. I'm on the lower Potomac.
I'm guessing that high tide today will be about where we normally see low tide.

Yep, its high tide time here at our side and its looks like its a low, low tide. We'll be looking at mud flats in a few hours. Its a combination of the ripping (20-25 knt) north wind and the full moon. Plans were to launch the boat and finish jetting in the new pilings today... well, that ain't happening.

The ramp to the floating docks here at BMC Lighthouse point is as steep as I have ever seen it. So much so it was difficult bringing the cart own it last night.

Just took a walk to fells point and by anchorage marine the tide is so low as to make some slips unusable. Had beach in some spots. I will post a pic later tonight when I am at the computer.

High tide has come and gone today and it didn't get any higher than the low tide mark.

I’m in Charlestown, Northeast River. Stayed on the boat last night 5/24 and was on the bottom at low tide. Also the wind is getting old and it was cold. Came home today and maybe back to the boat tomorrow and Monday?

Agreed with the wind being old. Cold to for that matter. I wanted to be having drinks by the pool. Instead having drinks inside and watching captain Ron. Still on the boat though.

In Little Egg, NJ and the Tuckerton Creek it looks like the mud flats. Our ramp to the floating docks is about as steep as I have ever seen it.

This was at high tide yesterday. It was about 6" lower than the normal low tide mark.

This was in between next to anchorage marina about an hour before low tide

Still pretty low this morning but not that low.

Question for you Chesapeake veterans. When the water comes back, will it create an unusually strong current for a few days on the flood and will high be higher than normal?

Great choice, that is one of my favorite movies!

Well, it's Monday morning and the tides aren't quite as low as they were but still have away to go to be normal again.
My question, with the extreme low tides we've been having the past few days, who is getting the extreme high tides. I mean, the water has to go somewhere.

The ocean is .0000001" higher. The water blows out of the bay/ rivers into the ocean.

John, there is no guarentee that a higher tide or mini tsunami is in our future although we have sometimes seen higher tides after a blow-out tide.

I know you are right, I was just thinking with our extreme low tides, was another region having extreme high tides.
