Al,

We are going to look at an '86 36DC next weekend here in Ohio. Any words of wisdom for us:) Have you enjoyed yours this past summer?

Thanks
Niles

nwaring, This will be one of the best moves youve ever made! The layout on this boat is so well done. My wife and i love ares! Have the vessel surveyed to include fluid samples taken on all machinery. I wish we closer so i could perform the survey for you. Keep us posted.

Well we went. The wife likes the layout and the boat in general. We didn't really like the one we looked at though. They sharedgave me a copy of a mini survey that had been done last fall and from what I read into it didn't fare so well. We are off to Mi this coming weekend to hopefully check out a better example of one.
Thanks
Niles

Niles, Hope your search is productive. Carver makes an aft cabin called the 3607 which is very similer. It may help to look at both in the same year models. Keep us posted. Al

Al. The one in Mi is in great shape. The only thing that raised my eyebrows was it didn't have trim tabs. Other than that all seemed pretty good for a 20 year old boat. We are still debating but I did list the current boat.

Thanks
Niles

Niles, Nice too hear you found one in good shape! I have surveyed some with no trim tabs. It would not take much to have them installed. Its always a hard move up to a larger boat like this. Once you make the move its so very exciting and worth the effort. Now is the time to buy one. Prices are lower then they have been years.

Being a fellow Mainship owner (40 Sedan Bridge 1993) I really like the way Mainship makes use of interior space. There is little wasted space and they are fairly easy to work on. Good luck in your search there are plenty of used boats on the market to be had for a song right now. I am sure you'll find the right one for you both. Take care. Bill

You talk about trim tabs. Our 36 D/C does not have them and the boat performs well with out them. When we bought the boat, I thought it was unusual not to have them, but it is not an issue. We love our 36, plenty of space and with aft hardtop and enclosure, plenty of usable living space.

Lou R. 1986 36 D/C

Hey Lou, Ive been thinking about installing a hard top on mine. Did your boat come with the hardtop?

Yes, It was done by the previous owner. Amazing what a different look it brings to the boat. I get a ton of complements about the hard top and "WING" doors. We can keep teak furniture on our aft deck. Livable space increases by 25%.

36...could you email me a picture of your hardtop, sounds interesting?
Thanks
Niles

Niles, I will do my best to send you a picture. I am not real good at taking a picture from one source and sending it to another. I will try.

Lou R.

Niles, can you send me your e-mail address ?? This is the only way I know how to forward the pictures.

Lou R

Al, if interested, I would be glad to send the photo's of our "hard top Mainship"

Lou R

Lou. I sent you my address
Thanks
Niles

That would be great Lou. My site link is just below. My e-mail and contact information is there. Thanks Again!

Al

We are going to look at a 36 Aft Cabin this weekend in Pensacola. My main concern is that the 270 HP engines are too small for this size boat. Would you comment please.

Vince

I've got a buddy with the 36 aft with Crusader 350's, which I believe are 270 hp. That boat runs great with those engines.

Vince, 350's / 270 hp work well for this boat. It's not a fast boat. I carry alot of weight and cruise at 13 knots / max 22.9 knots ( WOT)

Lou R.

Thanks for the information. These look like great boats with classic lines. At 13Kts what is your fuel use? At 7 kts what will they use?
