Just looking over options for next year. I'm getting tired of the low tide interfering with my boating. I had a late start a few weeks back and was ruching to get out before the tide was too low. I ended up hitting something down there and my stress level went through the roof.

Here are my requirements:

- Within 30 minutes of Cornwall
- Docks that are in decent shape and wide enough for my kids to be comfortable walking on
- Greater than 3' of water at low tide
- Pool for the kids
- Playground for the kids
- Great dockmates
- Bar or restraunt (not necessary but a + )

Any input? A working club would be nice.

If you are ok with a working club, next low tide why don't you dig out our marina then you can stay:) If I was going to leave for deep water I would go to Haverstraw. Over this past year I have met several very nice boaters from Haverstraw and they all seem very happy to be there. Growing up my parents kept there boats there and I loved it. I may have no choice but to return within a few years. It seems as though there is less and less water in Stony Point every year, I love where I am and would hate to leave but I agree having to live by the tide clock is frustrating and limiting.

I plan on taking a look at Haverstraw, but the per foot rate is $30 more than SPBM. I'm sure I could negotiate a better rate for year one, but 2,3, etc. it would go back to list. Also for some reason the pool is in Haverstraw south, and the playground is in north, this in my opinion is silly. They should add a playground to the south side, so it can fully satisfy a families needs. They have teh room by the tennis courts.

I really like the peaple at SPBM, but the low tide kills me. I'm not the early riser punctual type, so rushing to get in or out of the marina adds unneeded stress. And with 3 kids in tow if I miss my window to leave no one's happy.

In Newburgh, the city just cleaned up a lot south of the public ramp. They're looking for a buyer. It would make a great private yacht club. Who has a few mill laying around to go in on it?

Just exploring options.

Get me a shovel and I'll start digging out SP bay. Only problem is the sunken tires and rims may be tough to pick up with a shovel. (first hand experience)

Playground was moved to the south last year right in front of the marina/restaurant entrance.

Not a great playground but they do have one.

Unfortunately, in the Stony Point/Haverstraw area, there are few options that provide all you are looking for.

You could try to get into Minnesceongo...

What's the social side of Minnesceongo? I was always under the impression it was mostly larger boats with a post kids crowd.

Minneseogo has no pool.

While it does not apply to you since you have a 33' Mike, Haverstraw has lowered their rates. From their website...

"Boats in the 20 to 32 foot size range. $76.00 a foot on the South side and $75.00 a foot on the North side!"

I saw that. Maybe I'll cut off my pulpit and swim platform.

Mike - If you don't mind a bridge, I'd say come to Cortlandt Yacht Club, and we can park two 3372's close enough to get confused on a parting Saterday evening - - but our water sucks too!!!

on this side, the only place w/ deep water within 30 min or so of you would be Viking Boat yard - GREAT PLACE! - no snack bar, pool, or playground - all of which is why we're at CYC . . .

good luck.

So what do you mean by "sucks". At low tide my slip is probably 30" deep and there is no way to come in without a high probability of touching down. Also are there a lot of kids, I have a 5,8 and 10 year old. I don't want to be the only guy with young kids.

Nice photos and airial view. Drop me a PM of membership details if you don't mind sharing them.

BTW - Nice boat!

Come over and check our the Marlboro Yacht Club..
We are a working currently seeking members and you will not have a problem with tidal waters, At low tide I still have 8-9 ft of water...We have everything your looking for except the restaurant and pool. (some of us are working on the pool) In the link below we are the Northern club with the larger building. We have our own gas and pump outs.

It is worth it to visit and check it out.

Mike, The Cortlandt Yacht Club would be a great place for you and your family. I have no problem getting my boat in and out during low tide.

Not if you actually go out and have them swim in the river!

Pool is key. While I'm cleaning up and getting ready to go my kids usually head to the pool. Marlboro would be nice, but no pool.

I'll check email later tonight Gene.

Do you have to stay on the River? There are other places that have what you are looking for and more.

You are on the Westchester side, I would think about Norwalk Cove, nice pool club there, beach access, mini golf is great there, good restaurant.

Only issue is the boat show.

Westchester side?

Why not the #1 rated marina in the northeast?
