Will be traveling with 4 or 5 boats to the Chesapeake this summer and one of the stops is Annapolis. Anyone have recommendations for what marina to stay at?

Looking for relatively close to restaurants and the Naval museum, must be dog friendly and have a pool for the kids. The boats range in size from 38 to 44 feet.

Thanks

With boat small enough it s hard to beat the moorings. Great view, good dinghy dock or water taxi.

I like ego alley (no reservation though). Or the yacht basin due to the great location.

Moorings make it harder on the dog thing Pascal. (Not so much for us with our 2 dogs as we have a mooring in Osyter Bay and have the dog thing worked out to a T)

Thanks for the info.

Rommer,
The only marina with a pool near Annapolis is Mears Annapolis. It is not actually in spa creek (Annapolis harbor) it is in Back creek one creek south of Annapolis. The area is called Eastport and is walkable to town from the marina. About 10min. no more. There is also a water taxi that will come over and pick you up for like $3.

There are other marinas in Back Creek but are on the opposite side of the creek and are not walkable to Annapolis. However, the water taxi will come to those marinas as well to pick you up. We like Mears.

There are also great restaurants in Eastport that you are very close to from Mears. Annapolis Harbor boarders Eastport and Annapolis. Only a small bridge seperates them.

We spend alot of time in Annapolis so let me know if you have questions.

We most always stay at the Yacht Basin. Walking distance or short dinghy ride to lots of restaurants. Almost as close as the city docks on ego alley, but much more privacy.

Agree with Van.....Mears, nice marina, nice pool, free Sunday breakfast, and very short walk to city dock. Dog friendly.

when you guys coming down. maybe some of us could come up that way. boater ed party..

Our current plans are to be somewhere in Annapolis 7/7-9 and Herrington Harbour South 7/10-13 leaving the morning of the 14th to head back north. So how about the 10th at Herrington Harbour?

I would also agree with all being the yacht basin being closest, but ?do they have a pool. I would go with Mears, because of what all they have, and the walk is no problem. We are across the creek from Mears at Annapolis Landing. Good marina, but no where to walk. The water taxi runs from back creek every hr. and Annap. Land offers a coupon for 1/2 off taxi. #1.50 per person each trip.

Rommer,

I am bummed, I will be heading down as you head up. I think I am at HH South on the 12th & 13th, then to Annapolis. We are staying at the Yacht Basin. Nice place but no pool.

Port A. is on the south side of Back Creek, which is one more beyond where we are. It has a decent pool, but your only trans. to downtown will be the water taxi. Small cafe,,Wet Dog Cafe.. Well protected, and you will pass Annap. Landing on your way in, which has a fuel dock/pump-out if necessary.

We have stayed at Port Annapolis and they have a big pool, but it is a hike to the main part of town, not walkable. We have dinghied around the point into town, but it is a ways. The Yacht Basin is just so well located and is where all the megayachts stay. Depending on when you are arriving the new city docks are nicely redone, but first come first serve.
