Vic, I installed my Marine Elegance (freshwater, smart control) this weekend and am quite pleased with it. Thanks for your advise.
My question is this, I pulled a large ziplock bag of spare parts for the Jabsco toilet out of my parts locker and was thinking, do you recommend stocking any spare parts for the elegance?
The Jabsco needed impellers, gaskets, orings, that little plastic discharge elbow that would develop cracks in it over time....glad to be rid of it.

I asked him the same question last year. The only item he recommended at that time was a momentary switch in case something would happent to the smart control. It will be interesting to see if any other items are mentioned now that another year of production has gone by.

Guys, with the pressurized fresh water-flushing models, it wouldn't hurt to have a spare solenoid valve (#221351) on hand, as well as a pair of replacement joker valves (#221135). Beyond that, I can't think of anything.

The parts aren't all that expensive. Current factory price for a 12 volt solenoid valve for an Elegance head is $24.00, and joker valves (2 req'd) are $12.20 each. Les, I'm sure, can beat those prices, although not by a whole lot, as there isn't much margin to work with.

As Kurt mentioned, a heavy-duty momentary switch (#164000, $19.50) wouldn't be a bad idea to have on hand in case the Smart Switch controller were to fail. It would be fairly easy to change a few wires around and operate it via a manual pushbutton in a pinch...

I'm on my 3rd season I just bought the joker valves but it doesn't need them. You can always get a bucket of water or use the shower or sink wand to fill the head and use the dry flush in an emergency.

Yeah, but I'm going to order the spare solenoid valve. I don't think there are many Raritan stocking dealers in the Exumas and I don't want mine failing during week 2 of the trip and having to use the hose from the shower for another 2 weeks. That would get me in trouble with the Admiral (be it my fault or not).

Kurt I would think the freshwater solenoid valve properly installed would have a very low failure rate. Keep it high and dry and I don't see it failing.
