April 21st is Opening Day and April 22 is the Chili Cookoff! Should be a great weekend, especially if we have decent weather! [:-spin]

The parade will begin at 12 noon at the bridge and proceed clockwise around the island, ending at the San Joaquin Yacht Club. All boats are welcome to join. The club is open to the public all day. [:-star]

As well as the parade, the club will be hosting courtesy CG Auxiliary vessel inspections beginning at 9AM. Everyone is encouraged to bring their boat to the dock to be inspected and receive your safety seal. [:-thumbu] Here is more info: http://www.uscgboating.org/safety/vsc.htm

From 9 - 11, fire extinguishers can be inspected at no cost, refilled or new ones purchased.

Bring your friends and celebrate boating! [:-party] The parade can be viewed at several marinas and restaurants around the island. We will be having bands [:-sing] on some of the boats and for the first time in 6 years, the CG will be participating. Vessel Assist and BI's own Fire Boat will also be on hand. It should be an exciting day with lots of parties going into the night.....[:-tophat]

What BI Fire boat? The offlined the two old ones and the new has not arrived yet, right? Maybe you will get the CoCo Sheriffs Patrol boat?

Hmmmm, I'm just repeating what the SJYC's como Mar reported at the last club meeting.......

The Chili CookOff will be held on Sunday, Apr 22 at Scout Hall on BI. Check with the Chamber of Commerce for more information.

Why not cruise over to BI for our parade? It is a lot of fun and the whole island becomes one big party. Many of the homes along the water have friends/family over and even decorate their docks and decks!

A good place to be by boat is Rusty Porthole. Lots of docking available and the parade goes right by there. If it is kind of chilly, the grog can be had at their bar which looks right out onto the water. They also serve meals and do not charge for overnight docking. First come, first docked so arrive early!

Of course you are welcome at the SJYC, but the docks will be very crowded and boats participating in the parade get priority.

Ok, everyone, do your sunshine dances for Saturday.....or at least pray for no rain!!!!

Latest weather reports seem to favor dry conditions for Saturday. See ya'll at the parade!
