Anyone know what's going on there? Years ago, we used to go to Strong's Marina. Now I read that someone is trying to turn it into a big-ticket marina with venues on Peconic Bay side as well.

All we want is a three day visit in a Silverton 34C. Has the inlet shoaled? Can you still get up to the village?

There was never a lot of water there but it was doable.

Any info would be appreciated.

Strong's Marina on the Peconic side does have larger boats in their place so there's got to be enough water there. I heard they bought a smaller marina in the Peconics and were turning it into an overnite+ destination for boaters.

They do hold events there and recently had some sort of music fest.

About 6 months ago Strong's marina (on the bay side) bought out Matt-A-Marr marina on the sound side of Mattituck. There are no shoaling issues on the sounds side as we have been in and out within the past 2 months. This is a 'good' thing since Matt-A Marr had been falling into disrepair and there quality of service was approaching a new low. So far in a very short time the new owners have cleaned up a bunch of the marina doing work on docks, power, blacktop, trees, new restaurant roof, etc with a larger plan to clean the entire property. It may take years until it is back to what is was a dozen years back.
Hope this helps

Ron, that's good info about Matt-a-Mar. I hadn't been for a while (perhaps 2005)and had a great time. The marina was in OK shape then, but I had no idea it had deteriorated. It's the only inlet between Mount Sinai and going around to Orient, so it's a nice spot for a short North Shore overnight.

Sometimes I wish they would extend Mattituck inlet across to Peconic Bay so there was a a nice short cut through. But that'll never happen.

Ahhh - but during hurricane Sandy the connection was already in place!

But it only lasted a few hours
