I know I have asked this question here before and I had a good tip. I was looking for a good reliable mechanic for my boat.
Problem is, he fell in love with a girl and changed career. He is now building a school. This is what I call a 180 degree turn.
Anyway, I am now looking for another mechanic for my in/out Volvo in Broward.
If anybody knows a good one they can recommend I would appreciate the tip.

I keep my boat at Shirttail Charlie's on the New River. They are certified Mercruiser service people, and have done good work for me. Don't know if they are certified for Volvo or not, but there should be a listing of certified Volvo technicians somewhere.
 
Harry, the guy at Intermarine, Mike, is good. He may charge more than others, but he is good. Volvo certified. I might be calling on him soon to fix some electonics on my boat shortly, as a guy here at Blackpoint totally screwed them up installing a fixed VHF radio.

BTW, I don't know if you saw it, but I sent you a forum message last week.

Thanks for the tip. I will give them a call and find out. Most of these guys also know Volvo. It's the same engine block after all.

I will call the guy at Intermarine and see what he says.
I am getting desperate, I hate to be paying so much money to maintain a boat and not be able to enjoy it.

When Frank came to do a 100-hour service for me in December he told me he met a girl who wants to open a Montessori school. Two weeks later I called him and he told me he started to build the school for the girlfriend and he chose to quit the mechanic business.
It's incredible the power of that thing women have.
So he left me the number of a new guy who will take over his customers. Very nice guy, seems to know his business but he has not been able to fix my boat. I am getting a little frustrated at this time. That's why I am trying to get a new mechanic.

LOL! OK, you don't have to make us men look so .. so ... so ... whatever it is that makes us weak! It's more than one thing they carry that gives them that power.

This guy was dating that girl for less than a month. He gave up his own business that he could do on the time of his choosing and I bet he was doing good financially also.
I am not saying starting a Montessori school is a bad idea, but I don't think he would have gone with you if you were the one offering that wonderful new business opportunity.
The lady had something else to offer.
Where I come from we have a very colorful saying to illustrate my point but I don't think I can say it here.

LOL! Yeah, I tink he got p-whipped. That is quite a short time to make such a drastic career change. Maybe she backed that it up with some $$$ too.

I contacted Mike at Intermarine. Those guys are really busy. He does not have a spot until April 2nd. Two weeks covered at $109 an hour. I would love to switch career. Any good school who can teach me marine mechanics in a week or two???

So this Friday I am going to test the gas from the water separator. If I find lots of water, I will be sure that I am dealing with just water in the tank. i doubt it though.
If not, I will just have to wait.
 
Yeah, That is busy. I called Jackson Marine sometime back in October last year because Mike was taking a long time to change the cable on my gear shift. They were going to be able to check it the very next day, so they weren't that busy.
 
Harry, check my mechanic out. His name is Armando (305) 332-2308. He is way cheaper than $109 hr. and the guy is good.
